According to MC Botha, hospital general manager at Mediclinic Limpopo, their admission of patients with the stomach flu has not spiked.

“This is the stomach flu season and we have not seen more patients than normal. If the municipality say the water is safe for consumption, than it is. The standard precaution is that doctors advise patients with diarrhoea to be careful of the water they drink, depending where they live, especially those who live in rural areas,” Botha said.

Sydney Masalla, general manager of Netcare Pholoso Hospital, also confirmed that they did not have any such cases reported and neither has there been a spike in admissions that might indicate any outbreak.

“However we remain vigilant to any potential health emergency that might arise,” Masalla said.
