POLOKWANE – Percia Maahlo, who recently won the Face of Turf beauty pageant in the pre-category, was announced as the new Miss Mankweng 2015.
“Being Miss Mankweng 2015 really means a lot to me as it was always my wish and today I feel happy and honoured to be crowned. It was not easy, but with my confidence and everyone’s support, I knew I could make it,” said Maahlo with tears in her eyes.
According to pageant organiser, Kholofelo Lekganyane, Miss Limpopo 2014, this was the second time the pageant was held and they planned to hold it annually.
She said the purpose of the pageant was to expose the talents of young people in Mankweng and also empower and pave the way for the young girls in her community through coaching and grooming.
“We do this to uplift the people of Mankweng, especially the teenagers, and show them it is possible for a young girl who hails from a dusty village to be Miss South Africa. We also urge them not to hide their modelling talents but showcase them as this can pave their future success,” said Lekganyane.
