Another Lekompo musician arrested in Polokwane

A well-known Lekompo musician has been arrested in Polokwane after an unlicensed firearm and ammunition were allegedly found at his home.

POLOKWANE – A warrant of arrest has been executed against a well-known Lekompo musician and internet personality at his home in Polokwane on Friday afternoon.

According to information received from police sources, the arrest relates to charges of alleged possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of ammunition.

It is alleged that several rounds of ammunition and an unlicensed firearm were found at the premises during the search this afternoon.

Police sources further allege that the suspect is linked to another separate investigation opened in 2025 after a complaint of alleged defamation against a radio personality stemming from a social media post. It is alleged that the firearms investigation unfolded during the course of that inquiry.

The suspect was arrested and is currently in police custody.

Review Online has lodged a formal inquiry with Limpopo police spokespersons, Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba and Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, for official confirmation of the arrest, the exact charges, details of items allegedly seized, and the suspect’s scheduled first appearance in court.

Under South Africa’s Firearms Control Act 60 of 2000, possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of ammunition without a licence are serious offences. Unlawful possession of a firearm carries a penalty of up to 15 years imprisonment upon conviction.

The suspect is expected to appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court within 48 hours of his arrest, where he will face the charges, excluding weekends when the courts will be closed.

Police investigations are continuing.
