Artist finally lives his dream with oil and canvas
Wiseman Muropa (40) is finally living his dream as an artist
POLOKWANE – Wiseman Muropa (40) is finally living his dream as an artist.
Originally from Zimbabwe, where he worked as a clerk for a tobacco processor, the father of four has been living in Polokwane for six years.
Muropa does oil paintings on canvas, which attracts a lot of attention in the city. He revealed he is able to make a better living for his family with the little he generates from his business.
“I grew up with a love for drawing and painting. When I was still young, I used to do this for fun and I later realised that I could generate a lot of money out of my talent.
“Having had a poor background did not allow me to go and further my studies at university after my secondary school education, but that did not stop me from doing my best with the paintings I did,” he recalled.
He said he is happy with his business today because he is able to generate at least R4 000 every month and able to buy food for his family so they do not go to bed hungry.
“Whatever the amount I generate in every month, it means a lot to me and I appreciate it. My customers like my work – they always praise it. That also makes me put more effort into my work,” he added.
Besides oil paintings, Muropa also does family portraits, murals and signwriting.
