LIMPOPO – Florah Malau (41) from Tafelkop in the Sekhukhune District was stabbed on her thigh by her 53-year-old former boyfriend last Monday.
Malau relived her ordeal: “He came running towards me as I was waiting with my boyfriend for transport to work. He demanded the photos I kept from our past relationship.
“When I told him I could not give him the photos now because I was on my way to work and it was getting late, he tried to stab me with a knife in my body. I fell down and he stabbed me on the thigh. The community started gathering to witness what was going on as I screamed for help after he had stabbed me.”
The suspect is under police guard in Groblersdal Hospital with serious injuries to his head and face, following a heavy beating by the community for attacking Malau.
Const Thelma Makofane, Motetema police spokesperson, explained: “Information at police disposal is that the woman screamed during the incident for help and the community responded. They captured the suspect and started assaulting him. Police were called and he was rescued from the angry crowd.
“He was taken to the Groblersdal Hospital where he is receiving medical treatment under police guard after the woman reported the matter to the police”.
Makofane confirmed a case of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm was opened.
The suspect suffered serious injuries to his face and head. He is expected to appear in the Motetema Magistrate’s Court as soon as he recovers from the injuries.
