LOUIS TRICHARDT – A spate of armed robberies continued on 7 November when one of the local hotels was robbed at gunpoint.

Const Irene Radzilane, Makhado police spokesperson, said they are investigating a case of business robbery.

“It is alleged that three African males, one armed with a pistol, entered the hotel and tied a male victim with a copper cable.

“It is further alleged that the suspects broke open the safe with a hammer and managed to get away with an undisclosed amount of money and a cell phone,” Radzilane said.

Radzilane also confirmed that no shots were fired and nobody was injured during the incident.

No arrests have been made and the police investigation is still ongoing.

Another burglary took place on the same day at a business in town. “It is alleged that the complainant was alerted by the security that there was a break-in where the suspects managed to get away with a till drawer,” Radzilane stated.

On a CCTV video clip received by Review, the suspects can be seen jumping over the counter a few times, apparently searching for something. The suspects can also be seen on the video running out of the business with liquor, bottles of beer and a 5 l box of wine.
