Police arrest man for stealing potatoes

A 29-year-old man was arrested on Friday evening for theft at a farm in Toitskraal, outside Marble Hall

LIMPOPO –  A 29-year-old man was arrested on Friday evening for theft at a farm in Toitskraal, outside Marble Hall.

According to the police, the suspect, who was driving a white Nissan 1400 bakkie, was loading potatoes onto the vehicle when workers at the farm spotted him and notified the police.

Const Lethunya Mmuroa, Marble Hall police spokesperson, confirmed that a case of theft was opened at the station.

“We arrested a 29-year-old man who was found stealing potatoes at a farm in Toitskraal on Friday evening. Workers spotted the suspect and reported the matter to the owners. The police were called in and the suspect was arrested. The cost of the potatoes is not yet known,” Mmuroa said.

The suspect is set to appear before the Groblersdal Magistrate’s Court on a charge of theft this week.
