LIMPOPO – A 44-year-old woman, believed to be the mother of the discarded baby girl, was arrested on Sunday afternoon in Nthabiseng village in Morebeng.
According to an earlier report the police and paramedics were called in on Sunday morning after a resident heard the baby crying in a pit toilet.
The SAPS dive unit managed to rescue the baby girl, and she was taken to the Botlokwa hospital for further treatment.
“She is still in hospital,” says provincial police spokesperson, Col Ronel Otto.
The woman is currently receiving medical treatment in hospital under police guard but will appear in court as soon as she is released from hospital concludes Otto.
