POLOKWANE – Motorists are warned to be vigilant when parking their cars in the city.
This comes after a recent spate of attacks in which four men follow motorists and when they park their cars, the men attack and take any valuables that are in the vehicles.
A resident who wishes to remain anonymous informed Review of how his car was broken into after he parked it in Burger Street, opposite the park at the city’s public swimming pool. He said after visiting the doctor, he returned to his car to find that the car door’s lock had been broken and R2 000 was stolen.
Polokwane police spokesperson, Capt Ntobeng Phala advised motorists to be aware of their surroundings. “Motorists should not leave valuables in their cars, you do not know who is watching you.”
He said criminals use the ignorance of innocent people and that is why they are successful when they commit crimes. Because of this, he said, people need to be alert at all times.
