Noorderland athletes show their muscles of steel

A colourful spectacle of cheering spectators and eager participants was at the order of the day during Hoërskool Noorderland’s annual inter house athletics meeting on Friday.
Members of the Blue, Red and Yellow teams gave their best on the field and track while their team mates supported them from the spectator stands.
Head of Sport Deon Kruger said that the athletes did well with some representing their team in more than one item. At the end of the day the Blue team was declared the winner with 650 points closely followed by the Yellow team on 556 points and the Red team on 545 points.
Among the individual achievements was that of the Blue team’s Thabang Makeketlana, u.17, who was named Senior Victor Ludorum in recognition of his first places in the 110 m hurdles, 100 m, 200 m, high jump, discus and triple jump.
He was also second in the 1 500 m and long jump and fourth in the 400 m. Nkone Lebelo, u.16, Blue team, claimed the title of Senior Victrix Ludorum after she won the 1 500 m, 100 m sprint and long jump and finished second in the 400 m.
Junior Victor Ludorum, Quinton Adams, u.14 of the Red team won the high jump, 100 m hurdles, 800 m and 200 m. his team mate Maite Ramaphoko, also u.15, was named Victrix Ludorum for her win in the 200 m, second place in the 400 m and 800 m items and third place in the 100 m.
