POLOKWANE – Sekhukhune United beat Polokwane City in the Limpopo Derby at Seshego Stadium last Saturday, bouncing back from their midweek defeat to Kaizer Chiefs.

The victory lifted Babina Noko to third place on the log, while Polokwane City suffered their first defeat of the season.

Fast start for Babina Noko

Sekhukhune got off to a fast start, with Tshepo Mokoena opening the scoring in the eighth minute. Givemore Khupe provided the assist, with the goal being Mokoena’s third of the season.

Sekhukhune doubled their lead in the 20th minute when Ngoanamello Rammala found the back of the net after receiving a pass from D’Angelo Kazeem. The goal was Rammala’s second in three games.

Babina Noko went into half-time with a comfortable 2-0 lead.

City fight back but fail to score

Polokwane City tried to fight their way back into the match after the break, with coach Bayano Moloto introducing Abraham Mashele and Bonginkosi Dlamini.

City, however, could not find a way past the Sekhukhune defence and failed to score.

Their goalkeeper, Ayanda Ngwenya, was also called into action and made two good saves to keep the scoreline from increasing.
