Shop reduced to ashes in minutes

"There is not a greater sense of powerlessness than to see your store of more than 10 years engulfed in flames."

MOKOPANE – “There is not a greater sense of powerlessness than to see your store of more than 10 years engulfed in flames.”

These are the disheartened words of Abdul Sattar Patel, owner of Big Six Hawkers in Nelson Mandela Drive that burned down on Monday morning.

Patel told Bosveld he attended the morning prayer at around 05:00 when he was informed his store was on fire.

According to bystanders, the store was destroyed within 20 minutes.

Patel thanked the Mogalakwena fire brigade, the police, traffic department and security companies for their swift action.

Ben Senokoane, Chief Fire Officer, told Bosveld an investigation into the cause of the fire is still ongoing.
