Mokopane’s academic stars receive awards
More than 100 guests attended the glamorous award ceremony hosted by E.H. Hassim Builders World Mokopane at the Van Rensburg Hall.
MOKOPANE – “I am very proud of each learner and teacher who contributed in the 2015 academic year towards the prestigious 64,8% pass rate. Thanks to their hard work we as the Mokopane circuit now boast with a third place in the Mogalakwena district and Ramogabudi Secondary School achieved a first place in the circuit as well as in the Waterberg district.”
These are the proud words of Makinta Ralekgokgo, Department of Education Mokopane Circuit Manager after the top schools, teachers and learners of the Mokopane circuit were awarded last Thursday for their achievements in 2015.
More than 100 guests attended the glamorous award ceremony hosted by E.H. Hassim Builders World Mokopane at the Van Rensburg Hall, including officials from the Mogalakwena Municipality and District Senior Manager, Ndo Mangala were among the elite guests.
The top three schools in the Mokopane circuit:
•Ramogabudi Secondary School with a 100% matric pass rate.
•Mmolawa Secondary School obtained a 92, 30% matric pass rate.
•Mapanolla Secondary School achieved a 78,12% matric pass rate.
Noko Sekotlong, Principal of Ramogabudi, said: “I am very proud of each learner and thankful for all of my staff for their hard work and commitment throughout the year.”
The top gr. 6 learners:
•Thabo Baloi from Motshitshi Primary School obtained 88% in mathematics.
•Velly Mphela a gr. 6 learner from Moshupsa Primary School achieved 88% in mathematics.
•Refilwe Mmankone Nkale from Moshupsa Primary School boasts 93% in English.
The top matric learners for 2015:
•Bridget Kekana from Ramogabudi Secondary School obtained a 78,2 average and two distinctions.
•Moses Mashiane from Ramogabudi Secondary School with a 76,1% average and three distinctions.
•Samuel Mothwa from AB Makapan Secondary School with a 74,9 % average and two distinctions.
•Maria Makhafola from Ramogabudi Secondary School with a 73,7% average.
•Donald Ledwaba from Ramogabudi Secondary School with a 73,5% average.
•Reynolds Ramotshela from AB Makapan Secondary School with a 72% average and two distinctions.
•Lucky Tjale from Masodi Secondary School with a 70,8% average.
•Itumeleng Somo from Ramogabudi Secondary School with a 68,8% average.
•Tshidi Mafihla from Ramogabudi Secondary School with a 68,7% average.
•Ntshamabu Maboya from Mpirwabirwa Secondary School with a 68,6% average.

Mangala said: “I salute all of the educators and learners that today reap the fruit of their hard work in 2015. The Mokopane Circuit is the only circuit in the Waterberg District that improved with 6,8% in the matric pass rate of 2015. I look forward to celebrating the class of 2016 achievements.”
Lesiba Langa, finance chairperson at the Mogalakwena Muncipality, gave the congratulatory message on behalf of the Mayor, Parks Sebatjane.
He said: “We know that education is a fundamental human right and is a right that we must all take seriously if we are to successfully push back the triple challenges of poverty, inequality and unemployment and ultimately provide the economic emancipation to our people.
“We are therefore gathered here today to celebrate the success of our 2015 matriculates, a momentous period during their schooling career.
“You made all of us proud, your parents, teachers and the community you represent. Indeed the second president of Somalia Siad Barre was on point when he said in 1975 during his address to teachers in that country: “I believe there are three kinds of teachers: the home, the books and the teacher himself”.
