POLOKWANE – Review asks young athletes why having ones family at an athletics meeting is important.
“Your family will always stand behind you and support you no matter what happens,” says Koena Moloto. He says that when your family supports you through the good and the bad, they also encourage you to be a better sportsman.
Karabo Mamabolo believes that through the support of her family, she becomes encouraged to push harder and do better when it comes to athletics. “Their support makes you want to do better each time.”
Sisanda Baloyi is in it for what she can get from her parents afterwards. She says by having her family there to support her, she is encouraged to do better, to push further with each stride and if you do well, she is rewarded by her family buying her something nice.
Tiffany Kirton says having her family there to support her motivates her to do better, that way she can show her family that she can do whatever she puts her mind to.
“Having my family there means they see how well I can do.” It is because of that, that Modaso Sebela gains motivation and support at her athletics meets.
Masase Tshivhase gains courage from her family being present at her athletic meets. “You always do better knowing your family are there to watch you, you want to make them proud of you.”
