Pemps gr. R learners and teachers celebrated the school’s "quinceañera" on Friday

POLOKWANE – A quinceañera in Latin American culture, is a coming of age ceremony held on a girl’s 15th birthday.

According to Pemps gr. R HOD, Karen Adlem, a quinceañera is a stage when young girls take off their flat shoes and put on high heels to show that they have grown.

She said they had a special card competition, and the boys beat the girls in the competition.

Annemie Ohlenschlägar, who was the competition judge, said she looked at aspects such as appearance, unique personal touch and creativity when she judged the learners.

Winners:

• Pabalello Makgoka – most inspiring message

• Morapedi Mamobolo – prettiest card

• Moshe Bopape – biggest card
