2 escapees to appear in court today

2 of the men who escaped from the Modimolle police cells last week have been re-arrested say Limpopo Police.

LIMPOPO – 13 awaiting trial prisoners not 14 as previously mentioned manged to escape after cutting through the mesh wires of the exercise rooms of the cells on 15 March.

“Philip Phasha was re-arrested at Vaalwater and Tsepho Lehong at Pienaarsrivier,” say provincial police spokesperson, Col Ronel Otto.

They are due to appear in the Modimolle Magistrates Court on a charge of escape from lawful custody today (Tuesday).

“The search for the rest of the escapees continues, concludes Otto.
