Hijacker wounded in police shoot out

A suspected hijacker was injured in a shoot out which occurred between suspected hijackers and police members in the Lulekani area near Tzaneen early Thursday morning.

LIMPOPO – According to provincial police spokesperson, Col Ronel Otto, the vehicle was hijacked in Mankweng yesterday by two armed suspects.

“They drove around with the victim and later dropped him in Maake where he reported the crime.”

Members of Tracker and the K9 police unit this morning traced the hijacked vehicle to the Lulekani area where a shootout occurred between the police and 2 suspects says Otto.

“A 27-year-old suspect was wounded and the other fled the scene.”

“The hijacked vehicle as well as a 9mm Norinco pistol with the serial number filed off was recovered on the scene.”

The police are currently tracing the second suspect concludes Otto.
