3 suspects, including police constable arrested for armed robbery

Three suspects believed to be part of a group who have been terrorising Limpopo, were arrested on Tuesday in connection with several armed robberies, says police.

LIMPOPO – The suspects were arrested at Groblersdal and Lebowakgomo on Tuesday night as part of a continuation of the police operation where three suspects were arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms earlier this week.

“It is believed that these six suspects are part of a group who has been involved in robberies at well known Limpopo chain stores where cell phones and cash were targeted,” said Provincial Police Spokesperson, Col Ronel Otto.

A 38-year-old police constable attached to the TRT at Groblersdal was arrested in Groblersdal. “He was found to be in possession of an unlicensed fire arm and ammunition, said Otto.

“Two other suspects aged 36 and 32 were arrested at Lebowakgomo.”

A vehicle believed to have been used in the commission of the crimes was also recovered. The suspects are due to appear in a Limpopo court on Thursday, concluded Otto.
