MECS prefects enjoy camp
In order to equip their new generation of prefects, Mokopane Enlgish Combined School (MECS) took a group of newly elected prefects in training, on a leadership camp.
MOKOPANE – They were given a chance to learn some skills, and also to discover the strengths and weaknesses of each other, and of the group as a whole.
The learners were delighted by the valuable presentation by LM Grobler and Dr Adriaan Lubbe . Introduction to nature, and great team-building exercises were organised by Uwe Schröder. Under the guidance of Nicole Teich, Helena Labuschagne and Emilige Schröder and Learmore Nkomo, they got a chance to familiarise themselves with the code of conduct of the school, and what is expected of them. The evening was filled with Campfire and stories, singing, looking at the stars, and conversations never to be forgotten.
On Saturday morning, they scraped up all their courage, and climbed a very steep mountain. It gave the participants a true challenge of overcoming difficulty as a group. Having your sometimes much older teacher on your side, contributed to the feeling of unity. MECS thank all the organisers and participants. “A special thanks to the family of Johann Becker, for allowing us the use of their special facility.”
