While the prospect of owning their own bicycle is a bleak one for many children, Samuel Seabela’s dream of having his own two wheels came true recently.
Samuel is a patient at the Cansa Tough Living with Cancer (TLC) Oncology Ward of the Polokwane Provincial Hospital and, through the Reach For A Dream Foundation now has his very own bicycle.
Reach For A Dream is a non-profit South African organisation that helps fulfil the dreams of children with life threatening illnesses.
Bobby Were, TLC Facilitator at the ward said that they approached the organisation for assistance to help make Samuel’s dream come true. Were explained that Samuel had three wishes and first on his list was to watch a soccer game at a stadium, the second to have a bicycle and the third to have soccer boots and new clothes. “As Samuel is too weak to attend a match, we felt a bicycle would be a better gift.
A very pleased Samuel said that this was his very first bike and that he couldn’t wait to ride it.
Were said that he is glad they could do this for a patient and hopes to fulfil many more patients’ dreams.
