Hit-and-run driver kills tow-truck operator on R101
A Tow-truck driver from Mahwelereng died late last Friday night after he was a victim of a hit-and-run on the R101.
MOKOPANE – Baldwin Legodi, a driver from a local towing company, was on the R101 picking up a vehicle that was in an accident when he was hit by a car.
Mokopane Police Spokesperson, Sgt Irene Masingi, said: “A case of culpable homicide and hit-and-run have been opened. Unfortunately, no one saw the vehicle that hit Legodi as he was the only person left on the accident scene.”
Willem Lamprecht from Special Operations Solutions Medical, said: “We put our lives on the line to save others, but sadly I have witnessed numerous times where drives do not even slow down when approaching an accident scene and thus we work with a target on our backs.
“We appeal to all drivers to be cautious and to take the emergency personnel working on the scene into consideration.”
