Take responsibility, help create a better tomorrow

Residents of Mokopane were amazed as a number of people gathered at Geyser Street on Saturday to continue with the upgrading of the portion of ground between Hooge - and Thabo Mbeki Streets.

MOKOPANE – The initiative was sparked by Pastors Thomas and Minda Marshall of Destiny Alive, and fuelled by people in the community who believe we can create a better tomorrow by taking responsibility for our lives, and our town, today.

We have all been aware of the danger the learners of Mokopane Primary School face when waiting for transportation to go home after school. Together with a number of businesses and the school, action was taken.

Firstly the old swimming pool had to be demolished and filled. On Saturday young and old worked, laughed, and playedtogether to construct a ‘play mountain’ out of the rubble that was left after the swimming pool was demolished. It was quite a sight to see. One of the children, Pero Boshoff, said: ” I think this playground will inspire everyone who sees it to do the same where they live!”

Pastor Thomas and Minda would like to thank the headmaster at Mokopane Primary School, and every community member who were part of this first phase, for their support and willingness to join hands in making this dream a reality.

“We are more or less 25% done with the project, but there is still a lot of work to be done.

Currently we will be busy with the fencing and construction of the play-structures made with tyres and donated jungle gyms. Thank you for all the donations we have received!”

They still need bolts and nuts, and strong hands to assemble these play-structures. If you are interested to get involved and help out, please let them know. Readers can contact Charmaine at 076 872 1324 for more information.

Together we can make a difference, and Mokopane will be called beautiful again.
