Angry residents protest against ward councillor
Angry Ext 44 residents are up in arms over the ANC Limpopo's decision to reinstate Tebogo Mojapelo as the Ward 8 councillor

POLOKWANE – The residents blocked Nelson Mandela Drive today (Wednesday) in protest against Mojapelo’s possible reinstatement.
Mojapelo has been a councillor in Ward 8 for five years, and residents say they want the ANC to withdraw her name at the IEC as they do not want her to lead the ward anymore.
Residents also threatened to burn schools and other public institutions if the ANC failed to remove Mojapelo.
“She only employs her friends when there are projects in the area. We elected our own candidates, but the ANC decided to take Mojapelo’s name to IEC to contest for the ward 8 councillor position,” said the disgruntled residents.
This protest follows another recent protest where Ward 8 residents, along with various extensions in the same area, as well as phase one and two of Greenside, handed over a memorandum to the ANC, stating they propose four candidates for the position of councillor, of whom Mojapelo isn’t one.
At that time, Mojapelo said she was not easily intimidated.
“I have been serving my ward well. I have been a Ward 8 councillor for five years now and I won’t get intimidated by jealous people.”
