Vhembe mayor says he’s ready for deployment

He could not state clearly where the party would deploy him, but confirmed he would no longer be available to serve the community as Vhembe mayor

LIMPOPO – The Vhembe mayor, Tshitereke Matibe, has indicated that he will accept any deployment as a loyal member of the ANC.

“I am a member of the ANC and I will go anywhere and serve the community. I regard deployment as an honour. I understand that my five-year term has come to the end and it is up to the ANC to redeploy us.”

He could not state clearly where the party would deploy him, but confirmed he would no longer be available to serve the community as Vhembe mayor.

During Matibe’s term as mayor, the municipality received a disclaimer audit report for three years in succession and in the 2014/15 financial year, the district was regarded as one of the worst performing municipalities with poor financial management and maladministration.

As ANC General Secretary Gwede Mantashe announced mayoral candidates for the party across the country, the names of Florence Radzilani was announced as candidate for the ANC in Vhembe and Mihlodi Muhlophe as candidate for the Musina Local Municipality.

Radzilani, who is the chairperson of the ANC Women’s League in the region, is not new in the Vhembe district. She served as mayor in 2011 and left in March 2012 to join the Limpopo Government as the MEC for Safety, Security and Liaison until 2014.
