The 19-year-old Maria Lebo Mokgobu who applied for a cardiologist position at the Pietersburg Mankweng Hospital Complex and was apprehended by the Hawks on charges of forgery, fraud and utterance of medical qualification for employment will appear in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court again today (Thursday) to continue her bail application.
According to Limpopo Hawks Spokesperson Matimba Maluleke the case was before court on Tuesday but postponed to today to continue with the bail hearing.
Mokgobu was arrested early this month after allegedly using a fake American cardiologist’s certificate to apply for a position. Investigations revealed that she reportedly does not even have a matric certificate.
Meanwhile the Hawks arrested a 44-year-old nurse from Makgatho Clinic in Botlokwa on Tuesday for allegedly selling antiretroviral medication (ARV). She was arrested in Polokwane. “We received information about a woman reportedly selling ARVs in the Central Business District of Polokwane. An undercover cop approached the woman and she attempted to sell him 24 sealed bottles of ARVs for R7 500,” Maluleke said.
She was expected to appear in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court yesterday (Wednesday).
