Edward Raatji and Stanley Mohlake accused of murder and possession of human body parts will appear in the Mokerong Magistrate’s Court again on Monday.
Provincial Police Spokesperson Ronel Otto said it is expected that judgement in their bail application will then be given. The duo appeared in court last Thursday after which the case was postponed.
The head and genitals of a woman, wrapped in newspaper, were found in Raatji and Mohlake’s possession by Police who followed up a tipoff regarding human body parts allegedly being offered for sale last month.
Murder was added to the charge sheet following the discovery of a burnt body under a bridge near the village of Mapela, where both accused reside, hours after their arrest. The victim, a woman, had been beheaded.
While both are spending time behind bars Police reports informed that the houses of the accused were burnt down by members of the Mapela community soon after their arrest.
