Last teary tribute paid to the late Kgosi Lebelo (92)
A gloomy mood filled the marquee erected next to Ga-Lebelo Traditional Municipality on 27 August as mourners came in large numbers to pay their last respect to Kgosi Kgokolo Gilbert Lebelo (92) who recently died after a long illness.
LIMPOPO – Among the residents who mourned his death were Mogalakwena Municipality Mayor, Andrina Matsemela, EXCO members, ward councillors, political leaders, traditional leaders and government officials.
During her brief address at the funeral service, Matsemela indicated that under the leadership of Kgosi Lebelo positive change in the village and the municipality at large was brought forth and his commitment to uplift the people of Ga-Lebelo village is an important lesson to them.
“As leaders, we should and we will continue to work together with the traditional leaders to achieve the common goal of the advancement of the people.
“We will continue working with the Ga-Lebelo Traditional House.
“It is a sad day for the entire community of Mogalakwena and the council nation to bid our last goodbye to Kgosi Lebelo who has been at the helm of the Ga-Lebelo community since 1972.”
“We wish the people of Bafokeng courage as we mourn with them.
“Our ANC-led government and the entire community of Mogalakwena and Waterberg share your pain.
“Rest in peace Kgomo ya Mmankhumiše, modimo wa nko ye meetse,” said Matsemela.
Kgosi Kgokolo Gilbert Lebelo was laid to rest at Ga-Lebelo village.
He is described as a rare breed of leader, a lion-hearted man who selflessly led his nation with distinction who always had the well-being of the community at heart.
