Dynamic DJ is living his dream

THE moment 21-year-old Steve Maluleka received a call from Energy FM was the moment he realised that his life would change for the better.

POLOKWANE – Steve hails from Tshamahanzi village near Mokopane and is now living his dream as a resident DJ on one of the most popular radio stations in Limpopo, Energy FM. The young man has been working as a mix DJ and music compiler on the drive show for 10 months now. “As young as I am, Energy FM changed my life in so many ways. I am now a responsible person and I have learnt how to survive without depending on my family,” he says.

He adds that what perhaps motivates him the most is the talented people he works with.

He says since his colleagues are more experienced than he is, he makes full use of the opportunity to learn as much as possible from them. “I find motivation from my colleagues who have been in the radio industry for a long time. Through them I gain a lot of experience and knowledge on how the industry works,” Steve continues.

What he likes most about his job is that he is able to personally meet some of the artists who inspire him.

When he is faced with hardships, he says he goes back to the drawing board and reminds himself of what a strong person he is. There is no doubt that this young man has what it takes to make a success of himself.

Steve says he is right where he wants to be and will continue to work hard in the industry he now calls home. “I love being a music compiler, I am extremely passionate about it. It doesn’t matter where you come from, if you really believe in achieving something then you’re halfway there. All you need is to stay humble and focused,” Steve says.
