Limpopo Film Festival is looking for talent
Filmmakers are urged to submit their films and to attend the festival to help boost the film and television industry in the province
POLOKWANE – The Limpopo Film Festival is set to take place from 13 to 15 December 2016 at Jack Botes Hall from 9:00 to 16:00 daily.
Director of the festival, Victor Phiri says the festival will focus on creating opportunities for emerging filmmakers to develop and produce innovative content that will result in the development and emergence of the film and television in the industry in the province.
The festival will offer a packed programme of industry seminars, workshops and public discussion forums aimed at both aspirant filmmakers and professionals which are facilitated by experts. “The seminars and workshops are critical because they will broaden people’s understanding of the industry,” Phiri explains.
“I hope the Limpopo Film Festival will serve as a platform for the emergence and development of a thriving film and television industry in the province that will eventually lead to a pathway for economic empowerment,” he said.
Phiri explains there is funding available to film makers to attend the festival and he is also looking for prospective film makers to submit films for screening purposes. “The relationships that will emerge from the festival among professional and amateur filmmakers will lead to collaborations in the future and to create high-quality films and videos that can compete internationally,” he concluded.
