POLOKWANE – Residents from zone 8 in Seshego, the block around Oos and van Zyl Slabert Streets in the city and the surrounding areas are notified that that their power will be off for the whole day following damage caused by the storm on Saturday evening.
A municipal statement reads as follows: “The cables at Oos and van Zyl Slabbert as well as the over head line laying on the ground have been burnt.
“Municipal workers are currently fisixing a damaged electric pole in Zone 8. Unfortunately, due to the amount of repair work to be covered it is not possible to mention the exact time when power will be restored.”
The municipality will continue to work around the clock to repair the damage reads the statement.
Residents from other affected areas are advised to report to the municipality on 0152902000/2001/2457. Please note the municipality is receiving a number of reports due to the storm last night and it might take a while before we respond.
It is advisable that all wires should be treated as live to avoid injury and all electrical appliances be switched off to avoid damage when power is restored.
