POLOKWANE – The Gr R class from Pemps celebrated its 16th birthday at the school’s premises where the children were treated to a day of fun and celebration.

According to Pemps principal Desiré Conradie, this is a milestone they wouldn’t have reached without the support of their personnel and the parents.
“The staff has worked very hard to keep the school going. If we don’t educate our children, our country does not have a future, which is why you have to seize every opportunity to educate them,” Conradie said.

Conradie has been the principal at the school since 2013, and she said the assistance of personnel such as Noreen Banda and Gr R Principal, Karin Adlem, has made the school what it is today.
Before the birthday party the children were tasked with coming up with creative and unique ways to make birthday cards.

Their parents joined in and there were four learners who won prizes on the day.
The prizes were sponsored by Talent Banda, from Zakumi Consulting Engineers.

The prize winners were Itumeleng Legodi in the most inspiring message category, Ratshidza Ratshibvumo in the biggest card category, Dimpho Ledwaba won the prize for the prettiest card and the most creative award went to Imani Naledzani.
The children won meal vouchers from either Woolworths, Maxis, Spur or Wimpy.
“Parents contributed to the birthday packages the children bought as we wanted to encourage families to work on this together.
“The parents helped a lot and we thank them for their commitment. It was such a nice day of celebration and merriment for us,” Karin concluded.
