201 suspects arrested during latest Lim SAPS operation

The clean up operation occurred from last week till Monday morning, 3 July.

LIMPOPO  – The 201 suspects, between the ages of 19 and 49-years-old were arrested for various crimes ranging from house robbery, carjacking, business robberies, unlicensed firearms to possession of drugs in all 13 policing clusters

Police spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe says the province has experienced sporadic incidents of serious and violent crimes in most of the clusters especially trio crimes, mushrooming of drugs and firearms which have been the underlying causes of murder, assault and sexual offenses in recent weeks.

“This unbecoming trend have triggered SAPS to strengthen its crime fighting through the multi-disciplinary joint operations which are still unfolding,’ Ngoepe said.

During this operation, the following items were recovered:

– 15 stolen motor vehicles with the estimated value of R 3.5m

– Eight illegal firearms

– One Rifle with ammunition

– 23 cell phones

– Three computers

– CAT and nyaope

– IT equipments

– Groceries

– Clothing

In Musina, the following stolen cars were recovered :

– One Toyota Fortuner was found burnt in the bushes which was stolen in Kuilsriver.

–  One Ford Ranger which was stolen in Vereeniging, Gauteng.

– One Toyota Hilux which was stolen in Douglas in Gauteng.

-One Isuzu van was recovered at the Beitbridge Boarder Post which was stolen in Kruistenhof.

Meanwhile, in Mecklenburg, outside Burgersfort, a 45-year-old man was arrested in the Ditwebeleng village, in possession of suspected stolen copper cables.

“During this arrest, a bakkie full of copper cables was recovered with the estimated street value of R300 000,” Ngoepe said.

In Bela-Bela, eight suspects were arrested and one stolen Toyota Corolla, six sachets of nyaope, two cell phones and a laptop were recovered.

Other Policing areas which were covered during this operation include: Polokwane, Westernburg, Seshego, Mankweng, Mokopane, Modimolle, Tzaneen, Ritavi, Marble Hall, Motetema, Hoopdal, Rosenegal, Hoedspruit, Nebo, Bolobedu, Rakgoadi, Dennilton, Hlanganani, Groblesdal, Burgersfort, Lephalale, Thohoyandou, Nebo, Maake, Phalaborwa, Malamulele, Senoabarwana, Namakgale, Waterval and Mphephu.

“The suspects arrested during this operation will appear before different Magistrate Courts soon,” Ngoepe said.

The Provincial Commissioner LT. General Nneke Ledwaba says serious incidents such as house robberies, carjackings and business robberies are still to be dealt with mercilessly and without compromise until all communities are safe.
