House plunder caught in act

A suspect was caught plundering an empty house in Rabe Street.

MOKPANE – The reaction officers of Suricat received a call last Friday from a concerned community member about a suspect who is plundering an empty house in Rabe Street.

Rassie Erasmus said upon arrival they caught the suspect red handed. All the copper wires, light switches, window handles, stove, taps, porcelain basins were removed even the copper water pipes in the wall were cut out. The owner of the house suffered considerable damage.

According to Erasmus these type of crimes are committed due to the high unemployment rate and drug abuse. “If he can give advice to homeowners, they should as far as possible prevent a house from being vacated.”

Suricat handed the suspect over to the SAPS and further investigation.
