LIMPOPO – The five suspects who were arrested for possession of protected species in Hoedspruit on Monday evening, appeared before the Hoedspruit Magistrate court and were remanded in custody.
Police spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe says the suspects (aged between 26 and 52-years-old) are from the Malamulele near Giyani, Lulekani near Phalaborwa and Tzaneen areas respectively.
The pangolin has since been taken to an animal enclosure in Hoedspruit.
The susepcts will reppear before the same on 3 August 2017 for a formal bail application.
The Police investigations are still continuing.
LIMPOPO – Police spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe says the suspects were arrested in the Lebamba area near Hoedspruit.
Ngoepe says police received a tip off of a vehicle travelling from Acornhoek in Mpumalanga, to Hoedspruit, transporting a Pangolin.
“The car was spotted, pulled off the road and searched. One live Pangolin was recovered and the five suspects (aged between 26 and 52-years-old) were arrested,” Ngoepe said.
The Pangolin was taken to an animal enclosure in Hoedspruit.
The suspects will appear before the Hoedspruit Magistrate Court on Wednesday, 26 July, on a charge of possession of protected species.
