CANSA Mokopane Care Centre opens its doors
The centre held their official openings event on Tuesday
MOKOPANE – People of the community had the chance to drink a cup of soup and learn what this organisation is about.
About 32 people joined the event including Cansa Staff from Modimolle, Polokwane and Rustenburg. Gerda Strauss says that Cansa is a non-profit organisation and explained more about the history of the organisation. Bobby Were, from Tough Living with Cancer (TLC) in Polokwane and a motivational speaker, tells his cancer story to the men among the crowd as living proof that breast cancer cannot only be diagnosed in women, but also in men.

The reason for the new office is to deliver a better footprint in the surrounding area of Mokopane, be more visible in the community, deliver more education and to reach out to various communities.

Cansa explained their plans for the near future and some of the ideas includes the following:
• Educate all communities and schools through exhibitions and task about wellness.
• Provide articles for the local newspaper on a weekly basis.
• Support patients with cancer as well as caretakers through support groups.
• Order stoma equipment.
• Give training on different types of cancers, pain control, treatment and prevention and healthy lifestyle.
Delicious soup and vetkoek was served after the proceedings.
Cansa also thanks everyone for their efforts and input in making their dream become a reality of opening a care centre in Mokopane.
