Cappies band hit the right notes

With a love and passion for music, a group of learners from Capricorn High School say they plan to entertain the world with their music.

POLOKWANE – The school band consists of learners from each grade in the school, some who have played musical instruments before and some who are first time musicians.

“I always thought it was easy to play music instruments but since I joined the school band I came to realise and appreciate just how much hard work and practice it takes. Although it might look easy I learn how to perfect my skills daily during practice, at school or at home,” said Thabo Setati, a Gr 11 learner.

The band instructor, Peace Badejo, said although there are many challenges they face as a band, the learners show an abundance of enthusiasm and passion to learn to play the instruments.

“The learners have performed for their peers to get a feel of what it’s like to perform for an audience and they did great. Bit by bit they are becoming good at playing their assigned instruments and hopefully soon we will compete with other schools. I believe that will motivate as well as inspire them to keep practicing,” he explained.
