The judges of the first semi-final round, Bradley Mockford, Dirk Liebenberg and Marjorie Knoetze are amongst the persons who paid a tribute to the late Benno de Klerk on Saturday. Each person in attendance has thrown a piece of wood on this fire as de Klerk would have been one of the semi-final contestants.
After the judging, Liebenberg and his co-judges agreed it was a really tough decision to determine the eventual winner as all the food was of a high standard. The table setting of both teams was also highly recommended by all three judges.
Eventually only one team could proceed to the final. The Bosveld Landini team was announced as the winner with their lemon sorbet starter, main course of Aussie-style matured rosemary and lemon lamb rump, mint and feta mashed peas, roast butternut with a South African style gourmet ‘braaibroodjie’. They now eagerly await to see against who they will have to cook off in the final on 23 September.
See next week’s Review for more details, as the other finalist will be determined on Saturday in the final semi-final round to be held at the Polokwane Golf Club.
