Woman arrested for bribing police officer in Ritavi

The 32-year-old was arrested on 22 September by the Hawks’ Serious Corruption Unit

LIMPOPO- Hawks provincial spokesperson Captain Matimba Maluleke says the woman bribed the investigating officer who is investigating a criminal case against her husband.

Maluleke says the suspect approached the investigating officer and promised to offer him R5000 cash in return of not opposing bail against her husband, who is in police custody.

“The woman was arrested immediately, after handing over the R5000 bribe to the police detective at Ritavi Magistrate Court at her husband’s court appearance.”

The suspect is expected to appear before the Ritavi Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 26 September 2017 to face a charge of bribery.
