Leeuwkuil shooting: Three suspects arrested through tip off from community

The arrest follows the killing of another suspect during a shoot out with a Leeukuil property owner late Thursday evening at around 23:30.

POLOKWANE – The three suspects, between the ages of 22 and 25-years-old were arrested by a task team lead by Saps Polokwane Cluster Commander Major General Sam Mokgonyana.

Police spokesperson Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe says the suspects will appear before the Seshego and Polokwane Magistrates Courts respectively on Monday, 23 October, on various offences ranging from house robbery, attempted murder, possession of firearms and ammunition and suspected stolen properties.

The suspects were cornered in a rented house at Makgofe village outside Polokwane.

“They began shooting once they noticed the presence of the police. Police retaliated and one suspect was shot. All three were arrested,@ Ngoepe explained.

During the arrest, the following items were recovered:
– Three firearms.

– 24 cellphones.
– One sports bicycle
– One Mercedes Benz key.
– Three Plasma TV’s.
– One Laptop, five speakers, four DVD players, four spotlights
– Two Digital cameras
– One cooler bag full of workshop material
– Six pairs of shoes (takkies)
– One KIC Refrigerator
– One Identification document

Ngoepe says the injured suspect is under police guard in hospital and the suspect who was killed during the farm attack has not been identified yet.

“The arrested suspects may be linked to more than 20 cases in the Seshego, Westenburg and Polokwane policing areas but investigations are still taking place,” he concluded.
