Limpopo DA has a new provincial chairman

Geoffrey Tshibvumo was elected Provincial Chairman at the recent DA Provincial Congress.

POLOKWANE – The former Chairperson of the Congress of the People (Cope) in Vhembe, Geoffrey Tshibvumo, resigned from Cope to join the Democratic Alliance (DA) in 2016.

At the time, when welcoming Tshibvumo, Jacques Smalle, DA Provincial Leader, said: “Tshibvumo is a good and democratic leader”.

Tshibvumo mentioned at the time he did not join the ANC as he felt that the ruling party’s leadership did not respect veterans of the struggle against Apartheid and was no longer an organisation ‘worthy of people of the calibre of OR Tambo, Nelson Mandela and Thabo Mbeki’.

He accused the organisation of promoting a culture of anarchy and infighting and put his trust in the DA, expressing the hope that the party will succeed in changing the lives of the people. He stood in Ward 20 of the Makhado Municipality during the then municipal elections.

He felt, however, that he could add more to the party serving in another capacity and was elected as the party’s new chairperson on Saturday during the provincial elective congress.

Tshibvumo then joined the Independent Development Trust where he worked from August 2014 to January 2015 as a change management specialist, helping the employees of Exxarro Tshikondeni doing change readiness and adjust to major changes in their lives. He dealt with more than 600 employees at all levels, from factory floor to management, doing group work, coaching and counselling.

He was positive the DA could bring down the ANC support to less than a 50% in the province.
