Skillful Nego constructs his own ‘Nego City’

Mulalo ‘Nego’ Negondeni has created what many thought he can never do and that is Nego City.

LIMPOPO – What was once just a college project has now turned to be an attraction.

Mulalo ‘Nego’ Negondeni has created what many thought he can never do and that is Nego City.

The 23-year-old from Mukula village has created his own city comprising of a look-alike First National Bank (FNB) stadium, shopping centre, residential zones and a bridge.

Nengondeni is a level 3 civil engineering student at Vhembe TVET College.

He said: “I love engineering. Each time I see a beautiful building in town, I wish to have it at my home so that I can look at it and marvel at its beauty daily. This is partly why I created my own city.”

He used waste material, sand, cement and soil to create his city.

“My mother gave me money to buy some of the material like cement and a piece of land in the yard to build my city,” he added.

He added that he developed a passion and love for creating things in 2006 during the Fifa World Cup that was hosted in Germany.

“Next year I want to build two or three buildings like a hotel or resorts and two residential flats,” he said.

Besides being a student, he is also a singer.

“I am a vocalist from an RnB group called Retro Vibe. In future, I want to see myself as a qualified engineer who can build and design big buildings. I also want Nego City to be a big place where people can come and enjoy themselves, and become one of the biggest artists in the country and beyond,” he added.
