POLOKWANE –
1. What is the one thing you wanted to achieve in your life? Have you have achieved it and what challenges did you face? Justice Ngoepe from Moletjie Motinti.
“Yes I’ve always wanted to be a radio news reader. I started reading the news on radio before I could even finish my Diploma in Journalism, some years ago when I joined the TNG Campus Radio in Pretoria and later joined SABC Radio as a Newsreader, there were challenges such as trying hard to convince my father who wanted me to become a lawyer.”
2. Do you think the pronouncements made by CR17 to have his top five delegations was premature? Justice Ngoepe from Moletjie Motinti.
“I am not a politician but by the virtue of me being a journalist I think I do have an opinion when it comes to political matters and therefore, the ANC rules does not allow one to make pronouncement of leadership names before the stipulated time, I think yes it was premature simply because it hinders chances of more lobbying and horse trading behind the scenes.”
3. Do you think Vuwani learners will be compromised by what happened this year?
“What is happening in Vuwani is a repetition of what transpired last year and I do not think the outcomes will be any different this time. Vuwani learners are smart and they will make us proud as they did last year despite all the challenges.”
4. What actually inspired you to go for Radio and what advise can he give to someone who wants to be a news reader but doesn’t know how and where to start? Tshifhiwa Makatu at TUT PLK Camp.
“In the beginning my aim was to be famous but as I grew up and gaining maturity I learn that radio is about being the voice if the voiceless. My advice to those harbouring ambitions to become radio personalities is that you should pursue formal learning channels and study about the craft.”
5. Where do you come from? I love your accent. Jerry Sefoko from Mankweng.
“I was born in Ngudza Village just outside Thohoyandou but grew up in Matangari Village and Ha-Mangilasi in Vuwani. With regard to you having uncontrollable love for my accent, thank you and thanks for listening.”
6. How old are you? Mahlatse Thosago from Florapark.
“I am relatively young, I was born the year in which Venda got its independence so you can just do your maths.”
7. What inspired you to become a News Editor and has it always been your dream career. Tshepo Gwangwa from Westenburg.
“The Editorship came as a promotion. However it is inspiring enough to lead a team of young talented bright minds in our small but efficient newsroom and that’s what gives me peace of mind.”
