Polokwane Municipality warns of job scam doing the rounds

The municipality says they were made aware of the sms scam when they were inundated with phone calls about it.

POLOKWANE – A statement released by the municipality says the scam is in the form of an sms seeking money by a known woman, claiming to be Executive Mayor, Thembi Nkadimeng, who is promising jobs and tenders.

“This came to our attention after receiving calls from various people enquiring about the scam sms,” the municipality explained.

The scammer is asking for money to be deposited into her account.We have opened a case with South African Police for investigation.

The municipality urges the public to be vigilant and report the scammer to police.

“As the municipality we are not selling jobs and tenders. Jobs and tenders are advertised in local newspapers and municipal website,” the Municipality concluded.
