Over R100 000 worth of Khat seized, nine arrested outside Mankweng
In a coordinated effort to fight against the mushrooming of drugs in the province, the ongoing provincial drug intelligence led joint operation once again yielded significant results when nine suspects were arrested and large quantities of Khat seized.
POLOKWANE – The operation, compromising the crime intelligence, detectives and members of the drug unit, was conducted yesterday (Wednesday 17 January 2018), at the Wolkberg mountains near Ga-Molepo village in the Mankweng Cluster.

During the operation, nine suspects (aged between 28 and 36) were arrested and three vehicles, 49 plastic bags of Khat containing 150 bunches (the total value is estimated at R118 500) were confiscated, Police Spokesperson, Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo.
He further confirmed that all nine suspects will appear before the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court soon on charges of possession and dealing in drugs.
The Provincial Commissioner Leuternant-General Ledwaba has once more commended various teams within the Saps for their exceptional job done.
