BREAKING NEWS: Cyril Ramaphosa elected as President of South Africa

Ramaphosa was the only candidate nominated in Parliament for the position.

POLOKWANE – Ramaphosa has been elected as the fifth president of the Republic of South Africa.

Members of Parliament cast their vote in the National Assembly this afternoon.

Following the exit of the Economic Freedom Fighters, proceedings got underway by Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng.

President  Ramamphosa was then nominated by to ANC MP’s but it was only objected by COPE.

President Ramaphosa was then sworn in.

DA Leader, Mmusi Maimane then addressed the house saying that the DA would co operate with President Ramaphosa if he acts in the best interests of the people of South Africa.

President Ramaphosa will deliver the State of the Nation Address on Friday, 16 February.
