During an introductory interview with Gift Makhubele who was recently permanently appointed in the position of Polokwane Police Station Commander, he made it clear that corruption, housebreaking and robbery remain the biggest challenges in the city.
“Addressing these problems start at home. We urge people not to bribe law officials but to rather report them to any station immediately. Besides robberies and housebreakings we also had several incidents of abuse of state resources. We urge community members to report such incidents in order for us to deal with it immediately,” Makhubele said.
Born and bred in Malamulele and joining the Police service in 1983, Makhubele has served communities in North West as well as in the Western Cape but his passion lies in serving and protecting the people of Limpopo. He was previously commanding station officer at Mankweng before accepting the post in the City of Stars.
“My vision is a community who works hand in hand with the Police to fight crime. I want to see a strong relationship between the community, Community Policing Forums (CPF) and the Police resulting in people reporting any suspicious person or act immediately without hesitation of the Police’s competency to address any problem or issue,” Makhubele said, encouraging more people to join the CPF and to be part of the problem solving initiative.
He further indicated his dream of a city where residents and visitors can feel assured when leaving their homes and that they can walk or jog in the streets without the fear of being attacked.
Makhubele invited residents to contact him with any problem on 082 778 7267.
