Muni: Pipe repairs continue, operations at Olifantspoort plant still affected

Operations at Olifantspoort plant are still down following a burst along the Specon pipeline on Thursday morning.

POLOKWANE – “According to Lepelle Northern Water (LNW) repairs to the pipeline were not completed on Thursday and technicians are still working on replacing the broken valves,” reads a statement issued by the Polokwane Municpality on Friday morning.

All areas of supply will be affected.

The expected time for repairs to be completed is not yet certain and residents are urged to use water sparingly to avoid shortages.

POLOKWANE – According to a notification issued by Lepelle Northern Water (LNW), pumping from the Olifantspoort plant has been temporarily stopped to allow for repairs to be conducted on the Specon pipeline.

The pipe burst occurred this morning and repairs is estimated to take more than 12 hours, says the Polokwane Municipality.

All areas being supplied from Olifantspoort will be affected which include Seshego, Polokwane CBD, Mankweng, Westernburg, Ivy Park and high catchment areas.

The municipality urges residents to use water sparingly during this period to maintain reservoir levels in order to avoid water shortages
