240 suspects arrested during Operation Fiela II

Operation Fiela II is composed of various police units and was up and running for the past twenty-four hours in crime infested areas throughout Limpopo

LIMPOPO – The operation focused on various crime categories such as mushrooming of drugs, contact crimes, property crimes and trio crimes.

According to Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe, a total of 240 suspects between the ages of 18 and 57-years-old were arrested and the following items were recovered:

– Four motor vehicles.
– Three rifles.
– 32 rounds of ammunition.
– One Powermaster generator.
– Two Plasma TV’S.
– 13 cellphones.
– Two bicycles.
– Two gas bottles.
– One bag of clothes and 14 cases of liquor.

In Lephalale, a suspicious motor vehicle was pulled off the road, searched and two bags of dagga with the estimated street value of R10 000 was recovered.

“Two suspects, including the driver from Nelspruit and an illegal immigrant were arrested,” he said.

In Motetema, near Groblersdal, a house was raided and searched and the following items were recovered:
– Two sets of vehicles registration number plates.
– Eight cellphone staterpacks.
– A navy blue Limpopo EMS work-suit with an emblem and a green work-suit.
– 14 different types of mobilizers.
– 14 sets of Toyota car keys.
– 21 sets of different types of car keys.

Provincial Commissioner Lt. General Nneke Ledwaba has welcomed this milestone achievement made during the operation.

“Those individuals or syndicates out there who are still perpetrating any form of criminality and continuing to terrorise our communities, must know that their days are numbered unless they stop and refrain from their senseless acts,” Ledwaba said.

All the arrested suspects will appear before different Magistrates courts throughout the province, soon.
