LIMPOPO – According to police spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe, the Provincial Tracking Team received information about the suspect’s whereabouts, late on Monday afternoon, 25 March, from people who said they had seen a seriously injured person lying in the bushes near Ga-Phaahla village.

The suspect is believed to be part of a group of armed suspects involved in a shootout with security officers during an attempted cash-in-transit robbery at Diphagane village in Jane Furse on Sunday, 24 March.

“On arrival, a middle aged man was found in the river, badly injured, with gunshot wounds. He was unable to talk as the bullet was still lodged in his mouth. He was immediately taken to hospital for medial treatment where he is currently under police guard,” Ngoepe said.

Preliminary police investigations have also revealed that the getaway Audi A4, which was recovered, was reported stolen in the Garsfontein area.
