He explains that he first stayed with a family in Pretoria but is now living with a family in Polokwane.

Mateo says visiting a strange country is not as easy as it seems. “This is my first time visiting a different country and people think it is easy, but because I’m alone, I’ve learnt to deal with it.”

He explains that the culture in South Africa is very different from what he is used to but that he is slowly adapting.

“Back home, we do not have sports in school and I only do club sport. I played rugby in Argentina as well as here in South Africa. I enjoy the game. Back home, our public schooling is free but I’d say our academics are more or less the same.”

Mateo says he has made a lot of friends that has been the easiest part of his journey so far.
